Thank you for entrusting us with the great responsibility of coaching and teaching your daughter in this wonderful little game of softball. We are so excited about starting our 10th Fall Season of Beehive Stardust Softball. We are a family here at Beehive. If you are one of our new family members, welcome! Allow me a few paragraphs to give you a little history of our organization.
In the Spring of 2016, Al Star (the owner of the property that our facility sits on and overall director of Beehive) began discussions about starting a private, competitive softball organization here in Lee County as, at the time, there simply were no such options around. I had just moved my family back to town from Birmingham where we had gotten a taste of the exciting world of travel softball. After a season of seeing what our local rec departments here in Lee County had to offer, I knew that we had to build a program.
At the time, the Auburn University Softball Program was on top of the world nearly winning the national championship. In our first year, we brought in Coaches Maria Mitchell, Lexi Davis, Tiffany Howard and Emily Carosone as our instructors. We have since had Kasey Cooper, Jade Rhodes, Jenna Abbott, Marcy Harper, Anna Gibbs, Kelsey “Turtle” Boggards, Haley Fagan, Justus Perry, KK Crocker, Kendall Veach, Victoria Draper, Casey McCracken, Carmyn Greenwood, Ashley Swindle, Alyssa Rivera, Branndi Melero, Kaylee Carlson and many others. Throughout this time, the number of teams has grown to as large as 7 teams in one season. We have fielded several older teams 14U/16U/18U. However, the heart and soul of our program has always been building from the ground up.
After the 2019 Fall season, our leadership committee came to an agreement that since our original little Stardust babies from 2016 are now on the cusp of taking over the A Class arena, that we are going to make them our senior team and focus all of our time and energy on working from 8U through the 14U age groups allowing the organization to grow up. The results have been everything we had hoped.
In starting this organization, the one goal that I always maintained was that for our product to truly be the best in the State, our primary focus has to always be on our practices and training nights. So much of the travel softball world is about putting together makeshift teams and trophy hunting tournaments. That is not the focus of our product. We believe in providing each and every player in our organization the very best instruction and every team in our organization the best coaching and preparation. Now, please do not get me wrong, our mission every tournament is to win every game we play. We have won well over 150 championship trophies since 2016. But that winning comes from preparation. Our coaches understand my directive that every single practice throughout the entire season is to have an absolute directive and game plan. I believe that each player needs to be challenged and when they leave one of our practices that they are worn out from being worked to their absolute max.
Though we have strong support and coaching from some of our Dads and Moms throughout the organization, each of our teams will have a non-parent Head Coach. We build softball players at Beehive and each and every girl will earn their playing time based on their ability, their effort and their attitude. Our coaches understand this and my assurance to each of you is that the singular goal of every coach is to make EVERY single player the best softball player they can be. All of our coaches have gone through the gauntlet of learning as an assistant coach from either myself or from some of our former head coaches. Each Head Coach understands the ENORMOUS responsibility they have to each of our girls. They also understand that you are not only entrusting them with coaching your baby girls but also that you are investing your hard earned money to them to always be prompt and efficient in their coaching plans.
With that said, our Coaching Roster this Spring has never been stronger.
Coach Madison Dickey Pearce, Jenna Abbott, Samantha Harms, Abby Thompson will each be coaching specific teams, as well as overseeing some general lesson responsibilities with Maddie Penta overseeing all of our pitching, Rachel will be our organizational agility and fitness instructor and Madisdon will be offering lessons for all of those interested in learning the art of slap hitting. We will also have 5 current Auburn Softball Players working as active instructors at times once Coach Dean has gotten all of his players back on campus. Coach Dean and I have spoken at length about the Fall Camps that AU will be hosting and our older teams will be actively participating and even practicing at times at the AU complex.
We are excited to welcome each of you to our little piece of softball heaven. Welcome to an organization that will aspire to win every time we take the field. An organization that knows that in order to win we must help every single one of our players reach their maximum potential and goals. Welcome to an organization that will focus on every detail of the game and will ensure that every child works their tail off every time they step on the practice field. Welcome to an organization that knows how to have fun with the best of them. Welcome to the best softball organization in the State of Alabama. Welcome to our family.
Welcome to Beehive.
